Dental Hygiene

Why hygiene matters

Healthy gums are the foundation of a confident smile. Regular hygiene visits reduce the risk of gum disease, decay and bad breath, remove surface staining, and support long-term results from treatments like orthodontics, bonding, crowns and implants. You’ll get clear advice in plain English and a simple plan that fits your routine.

What happens & how often

Your hygienist checks gum health, removes plaque/tartar, lifts surface stain and finishes with a polish so teeth feel smooth and clean. We’ll agree easy home-care tweaks (brushing technique, interdental cleaning, product tips). Most people book every 3–6 months; if you smoke, have diabetes, wear braces/aligners, or have dental implants, we may suggest a shorter interval. Nervous? Tell us and we’ll take it at your pace with numbing gel where helpful.

Special cases, aftercare & quick questions

Braces/aligners: we’ll show how to clean around brackets/attachments and size interdental brushes.
Dental implants: tailored techniques to keep tissues healthy around implant components.
Whitening/cosmetic work: hygiene is ideal prep for even results.
Aftercare at home: brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste; clean between teeth daily; follow your recommended recall interval.
Signs you need extra support: bleeding/bruised gums, bad breath, heavy staining, sensitivity or recession—book a hygiene assessment.
